This idea is for a breakfast cereal such as Cheerios. It should come in two forms which are mixed up in the box - smaller dense high-fibre dark brown Cheerios, and larger, low-density creamy-coloured Cheerios. When these are poured into a bowl and gently shaken, the larger, low-density ones will move
to the top of the bowl (the "Brazil nut effect" - see link), giving the appearance (you're using a transparent bowl, right?) of a Guinnessy dark brown bowl of cereals with a rich creamy head.

The Brazil Nut Effect
http://www.findarti..._20_160/ai_80747803 The "Brazil Nut Effect" is a hot topic in the study of the physics involved in mixing different sized particles. It originates from the way in which shaking a box of muesli will cause the Brazil nuts to rise to the top. The explanations are very interesting. It looks like particle size is much more important than weight. [hippo, Mar 11 2005]

Use black milk, to heighten the effect. |

On the subject of one thing looking like another, when tilting the head to the left while looking at the inside of the half croissant above, I see E.T. in a hood as in the link. |

It's at times like this, when you are reading through the 0.5b and come across a link to 'The Brazil Nut Effect' on an idea about a stout emulating breakfast cereal that you come to a full appreciation and realisation of the quality and purpose of baking. I'm telling you guys because nobody else would understand. |

<sniff!> thanks guys. it's emotional. |

What [zen_tom] said, and oh yes, I have had my cheerios in a bowl with Guiness over them before, and it's really quite good. Which is what I thought this would be all about. |

I believe there is a similar phenomena that contributes to dirt roads developing into that regular washboard pattern that makes them so entertaining to drive on. |

Mmm...Beerios...Good with a nice heavy stout. Nasty with pilsner. |

I love Guinness but hate Cheerios. But this is such a creative idea I have to bun it. |

What does stout have to do with this idea? Some of my ancestors where Stouts. |

Stout - you know, as in beer, like Guinness: A rich, creamy head on top of a dark beery liquid. |
