Stinky Notes is the name given to a new range of sticky notes that feature the ability to deliver a memorable smell when scratched and sniffed.
Smells range from the natural and pleasant to the distinctly unpleasant. There are subtle aromas to be released on scratching the highlighted area on the
note, such as recently cut grass or freshly brewed coffee. There are of course smells at the other end of the spectrum, like stale armpits, ashtrays and blocked toilets.
The idea is that smells invoke strong memories and are hard to ignore, so there will be associations to reinforce the actual messages placed on the notes.
Packs of notes come with a range of colour coded smells. A small graphic element printed on each note indicates the area to be scratched along with a diagram showing how to release the smell.
In future, brainstorming sessions that involve the creation of walls covered with sticky notes will also feature return visits from those scratching and sniffing, encouraging further interactions and the making of other new connections.

Believe it or not, I am fully aware of other items that feature scratch and sniff elements. I still have a Polyester Odorama card (link) and it still works all of these years later. I have referred to it several times on the Half Bakery. As for "should exist", this applies equally to all my ideas. |

Ah yes, the so-called and widely regretted "Brown Trousers" effect ... |

maybe google Da Rottenz* scented notepads |

Works fine for us, too. Are you using a proper operating system and browser, or are you just pretending and using windoze or an iphoney ? |
|
|
Nope - firefox + vpn on macbook, but even so, scented notebooks (which I was already aware of) are not the same as scratch and sniff post-its memos. |
|
|
Just a little mistake as they are not notebooks!
Whilst your idea is a little more smelly, these
notepads have scratch and sniff covers and the
smell is On the stinky side. Im thinking if the
cover smells than the Post it must also smell like
it. But it still seems to be a similar idea
As they
are post-it memos. |
|
|
The scratch releases the smell and promotes
paying attention to the material on the post-it
note. That's the essence of the idea. This is as per
the infamous John Waters' Smellorama card,
which was totally neutral until scratched on the
numbered panels. Interactivity is everything. |

If you've ever used post-its in a design process, as part of a team to create an interactive board of ideas, you'll get what the stinky-notes is about. See link example. |
