A fake valuble item is secured in a location (mansion, museum, etc.), and is guarded by traditional means (guards, cameras, etc) and/or extravagant means (useless moving lasers with fog, pressure sensitive flooring, randomly placed lasers with gaps big enough for a person to fit through, the usual).
The guards and the contestants would only be allowed tranquilizer dart guns as weapons, or chloroform. if the contestant steals the fake jewel without being "caught" he/she gets to keep it as a prize. it could be a contest or a company, and would require a fee to participate.

Might already exist in the form of live action role playing society. |

There was a great program in the UK a wee while ago that got together a team of (ex)criminals to perform robbery challenges. I can't remember what it was called... Not quite a gameshow - but very interesting. |

Sounds like a reality show. Might be fun - especially if they let them think outside the box. The problem is that real crimes use criminal methods - like torturing people to find codes, ramming pickup trucks into guardhouses etc - so this show would be limited from the getgo. |

You could test new anit-burglary tecniques on the show. They could have a sponsored room every week featuring a new weird device. |

What was the one Nickelodeon game show ... um ... "Legends Of The Hidden Temple." Sure, kids didn't get to use tranquilizer guns, but if they could get to a fake jewel-like thing they got prizes. |

GREAT - a fake jewel to put next to my Rubik's Cube. |

it's a trophy, not just a fake jewel. and how did you know where I hide all my stolen fake jewels |

They did this in Russia too I think. A gameshow challenged people to steal a car. If they managed to escape the authorities they won so many 1000's of whatever currency Russia uses, if they were caught, the show disavowed all knowledge. Nice. |

Love it! Mwah ha ha! Sounds like my sort of thing. Definitely a croissant. The only problem is, you have to climb through these conveniently shaped lasers to get to it... |

I simply want to do it. Bun for that. |

Maybe a possible holiday camp off-shoot, where you are taught techniques for all the camp until a final burglary challenge. |

[+] ... except the following funny news story:
Steal This INC was robbed of it's $2,000,000 diamond by a AK47 wielding thiefs. 3 Guards, and 1 contestant have been shot execution style. According to Steal This INC's records the thiefs have not payed the $10,000 entry fee.
I am still giving this a bun because unless Steal This INC is stupid the diamond would not be real .. it would just be presented after the roberry as a "proof of theft". If the thief has not followed the rules (murdered someone) the prize would not be awarded. |
