The pages of these books are accordion-ed like a ream of computer printer paper but without the perforations.
Running the length of each folded seam are two thin magnetic strips which hold the pages to one another rather than a fold.
The binding for these books are removable, can be slid onto either side, and contain a ferromagnetic strip which holds the pages to the spine.

Both sides of the book are front cover pages but one side is written upside down. By changing the binding from one side to the other, two separate books are contained in the same tome with one being inside the other.

[fries], that's an awesome idea - I love the combination of modern and old school analog tech ... _27TIS_20A_20read

No need to change the binding or one story being upside down. Video shows the book's mechanism. [tatterdemalion, Dec 05 2016]

I went 47 years without knowing those words.
Now I'm going to see them everywhere.

Of course, during the Tête Offensive of '68...nope it's not really working...
