I use Dragon NaturallySpeaking 8 Pro to create documents, emails, and to IM people. I've set up my Trillian IM client to pop up an auto-hide box for my incoming IMs, so I can continue working on whatever I'm doing. But here's what I'd like to be able to do: When I speak into my microphone, it types into an off-screen IM window, without focusing it, but when I type, it types into whatever window I'm working in. It could also work the other way around. That way, I could multitask by using two input methods that won't interfere with each other.

Are you sure you can't do this with existing technology? Or are you asking for these features in your specific software combination?

This is not a new technology, just a new feature of a windowing system that could possibly be provided with a third-party application. What I want to see is

1) Data entry into unfocused, maybe hidden windows
2) The distinction between two methods of input, so typing on a keyboard will do a different thing than speaking into a microphone. This should be customizable.
