Wired solar versions of the AA battery.
Ordinary solar panel plus a box of electronics to modify the volts and amps to match the output character of a AA battery.
This runs into a plug shaped like a AA battery. (Your device would have to allow two small wires to exit )
Also a deluxe version
with a means to store power for the night and cloudy days.

Wireless solar versions of the AA battery.

This runs into a transmitter aimed at a matching receiver that has the form factor of a AA battery. (Your device would not have to allow two small wires to exit, but would need to allow the transmitted energy to reach the small cylindrical receiver. No metal battery enclosure if using microwave say. )
Also a deluxe version with a means to store power for the night and cloudy days.

than connecting to the DC IN power socket
on the device

combines 3 versatile components (solar panel,
regulator, battery-shaped adapter) into a single-

Perhaps you could put all of the electronics into the battery casing, including the solar cells. Then, you have the option, either to leave the battery compartment cover off, allowing the suns rays to strike the solar panel, or, to use the included solar funnel accessory, which consists of a large collecting mirror array, which focus the sunlight down into a fiber optic strand that runs into the battery compartment and illuminates the solar panel. |

Long, long ago (pre-'bakery) I ran across a harebrained
scheme for a battery that would recharge when placed in
sunlight or near any heat source. Years later I saw the same
idea proferred in a science fiction setting. One of those
rare juxtapositions of reality and fiction, I guess. |

remembered it was a project in a high school science fair
at which I was a judge. |
