So we'll go no more a-baking
So late into the night
Though the broadband's still connected
And the mind is just as bright

For it's slowly 'come apparent
My idea's not the best
And my argument's in tatters
And my bruised ego must rest.

Though I've still a taste for pastry
I've no fist left for this fight
So I'll go no more a-baking
So late into the night.

Love it. What did it start off as?
wagster, Jul 03 2005

SO, we'll go no more a-roving
So late into the night,
Though the heart be still as loving,
And the moon be still as bright.

For the sword outwears its sheath,
And the soul wears out the breast,
And the heart must pause to breathe,
And love itself have rest.

Though the night was made for loving,
And the day returns too soon,
Yet we'll go no more a-roving
By the light of the moon.

Lovely. I still preferred yours, though.

Somehow, I had the song "No, nay, never...No, nay never, no more....will I play the wild rover....No never, no more" in my mind as I read this. Is it related?
Ling, Jul 04 2005

I thought it was a fishy version of "If you go looking for trouble, trouble gonna get cha yeah". Don't know the actual name of that song, but do remember my ma singing it, as she was preparing to spank the living shit outta me. (And yes, she did look a bit like Bette Davis, In "Whatever Happened To Baby Jane?")

Fishrat, I hope to golly you are not planning on leaving. Your contributions are wonderful. Please don't go.

baker, baker, please don't go.
[Ling] ya beat me to it. (I thought it sounds like Kipling, but most likely not)

No fear. My erm, half-sword hasn't worn out it's, erm, bakery-sheath just yet. As for the "no, nay, never", I'm afraid it's been turned into a margarine advert in the UK. A sad demise indeed.
