Smuggle Drugs in Body Implants

Create a highly concentrated solution of cocaine, heroin, what-have-you. Put it into some type of silicon sac (or whatever type of material is typically used for implants, i.e. one that the human body won’t reject). Have the sacs surgically implanted. Cross borders. Have the sacs surgically removed, and the solution reduced back to appropriate form. Repeat as necessary.

Note: Sacs can also be implanted in pets crossing borders with their owners.

Advantages:

1) Smuggle drugs with minimized risk factor

2) If the idea is implemented with breast implants, large breasts may distract customs agents.

3) May be modified to deliver drugs to user internally. Could be a whole other idea: take drugs that are already stored in your body. Remote control stopper gizmo releases drugs from an implant into the bloodstream at user’s command.

An Ananova story from June 15, 2001... three days before you wrote this snarf... coincidence or phenomenon?! (Dramatic music) [waugsqueke, Oct 04 2004, last modified Oct 05 2004]

Yup. I've seen this in a news story that I've been trying to find.

Dog Ed: Breast implant ideas seem to occur in the Halfbakery so regularly that they've become something of a running joke. The breast angle was an afterthought to the notion of smuggling surgically implanted drug sacs. Please note my note that such sacs are to be implantable in any appropriate body part. I do like the beer-gut idea, though and I apologize for any perceived sexist agenda.

PeterSealy: Inasmuch as I didn't see any references to this idea on the web, I considered it postworthy.

       The running joke?

I've done some searching on the net and found several offhand references to the (apparently) well known fact that drugs have been smuggled in implants, but no stories about it actually occurring. I'm wondering now if it's just an urban legend.

PS: So, you're saying it's not a UL? You have a cite?

I saw this in a Thai movie about transexuals smuggling heroin to japan. The problem in the film was that they could only smuggle about a kilo each (transexual, not boob), so they needed a whole dance troupe of them to make it worthwhile. Which makes me think it's probably not practical in real life...

I've seen pictures. Usually very furry dogs so the hair will hide the scar. Sometimes they'll implant in an exotic pet and sell them both for extreme prices.

Couldn't they stop you, have a dog sniff you out, then if they find it wierd that the dog is telling them that a hot woman with huge boobs has drugs on her, wont you think they would x-ray her so they could find out a new way people are smuggling drugs across the border?
phaders, Nov 02 2003

An X-ray won't reveal what the solution in an implant is composed of, phaders. Also, I don't think dogs could smell drugs in a sealed silicon sac sewn into someone.

If my Menthol Packaging suggestion was marked for deletion, then shouldn't this also be marked, seems highly unfair? Unless I am actually onto something?
grippit, Jan 23 2004

[phaders], I don't think an X-ray is going to be able to identify what material an implant is filled with. They would be able to see that she had implants, but not what they were made of.

Bertie- One kilo of heroin is not worthwhile to smuggle? Then why swallow small ballons of it.

Large, swarthy men with full, round breasts.... *shudder*

I heard a story once of a young lady attempting to make some extra cash as a drug mule, and agreed to smuggle a designated quantity of heroin back to the US from Africa. The arrangement was made for here to smuggle it in her bra. The unfortunate woman was caught though when the security check point alerted as she walked through it. Seems she neglected to consider the fact that pierced nipples will set off metal detectors. ;-P

I've actually seen a TV movie, or something where that happened in it. Hey it was on TV, it must be real! </sarcasm> I've also been told of people who soak clothes in cocaine or heroin, pick one. Then wear them over the border. Scrape the drugs off then soak it again to get the last bits. I was told by an ex-FBI agent, so I'm pretty sure it's been done. Also, [Apologetic_Cynic] I've got a very special piercing, I've been to many an airport, international. I have never had to drop my pant's for airport security.

A beer belly on an elephant (or MY beer belly) could store lotsa more than a kilo. Both will be gross, though. Hey, perhaps I would gross up the custom people so much they neglect searching. A rasp because I don't care for any drug.

I vaguely remember a story on Animal Cops (on the animal planet channel) where someone made a dog or cat swallow 30 balloons full of crack and heroin and when they confiscated the dog, they xrayed it to discover the stash.
