Smart Microwave
Microwave turntable that always stops in the position it started | |
Microwave turntable remembers start position, and either adjusts rotation speed so it ends up where it started, or continues turning after the cooking stops, so it ends up where it started.
Anyone who's ever reheated a beverage, and pawed frantically at the superheated vessel to try and get the handle
in a reachable position - this one's for you.

I swear this was the main selling point of a microwave advertised on TV a few years ago... can't find it though. |
I rememeber this being advertised in the late eighties or early nineties as a 'boomerang turntable'. |
I thought modern microwave ovens didn't have a need for turntables. |
Curiously, BrauBeaton, I use the very microwave you link to at work, and it was its ability to leave the cup in exactly the *wrong* place that made me think of this. Baked, yes, but the implementation's definitely half-baked ... |
Baked? Certainly not widely known to exist! I likes. |
The existence of rubberised novelty fish is arguably not 'widely known' either. |

God point. I'm with you [Texticle]. |
Mr. Trophy, Sir; you just saved me the trouble of posting exactly the same idea. |
The solution is obvious. Just put the cup into the microwave with the handle pointing toward the back wall. |
No, I disagree. It is obvious that if the handle was pointing UP, then it would always be in the correct position when the microwave stops. |
What if there's a hook that comes out the last time it goes around to keep it in position? Like the hook slowly extends around where the handle should be? It wouldn't work for every beverage holder, but I think it'd work for some. |

In my experience with heating ceramic mugs in the microwave,
the handle becomes just as hot as the rest of the mug. This
wouldn't help. [-]// |
It generally helps to heat something else, like a liquid, usually
inside the mug. |
