I have this Idea that if you gathered lots of slugs, glued string to them and attached the string to a bar behind them then you put the slugs on a conveyor belt that was attached to the propellor shaft of a vehicle, and put a big piece of rock salt behind them the faer of being touched by the salt would
make the slugs move forwards, therefore moving the conveyor belt as they are leashed to the bar running behind them. moving the salt nearer to the slug would accelerate the motor and moving it away would slow down the vehicle

http://news.bbc.co....d_503000/503149.stm Why have cars be powered by the fears of slugs when they could be powered by the deaths of slugs? [gastronaut, Jul 03 2002, last modified Oct 04 2004]

Monkeyboy, get a video camera and make a movie where you are being chased by slugs. Do like Steve McQueen in 'The Blob' and realize that slugs hate salt. Save me an aisle seat and we'll see if you get a thumbwax up. |

The idea I find more interesting is this magic glue of yours that stays affixed to slugs. |

I'd drive with less fear knowing that my snail-trail wiper was spitting blobs of goo on the road behind me to spin out those Czech spys that chase me everywhere. |

Is it really necessary to put 'discuss' after your idea? That being the entire purpose of the site, after all. |

I believe ancient Mayan cultures harnessed slugs in a similar manner to draw water from their wells. Although it is not much of a life for a slug...this perpetual perambulating in a circle. Is there a metaphor here? |

Would you mind editing that line, [NickTheGreat], it's mucking up the page layout. |

If you're not too busy annotating everything else on the site. |

And assuming you're still here. |

(gastronaut) Great link! I wonder how Dr. Melhuish's idea would have been received here? The article's title alone belongs in the 1/2B... |
