It is so hard to sweep up all the junk that collects on the floor. If there are sloppy kids and pets, the problem is even worse. In a house with tile / wood floors, at least the junk doesnt get ground into the carpet, but there are still a lot of hairballs, cheerios, juice spills and other detritus.
I
propose that the entire floor be slightly sloped, so that valves at the high end of the house could let out hot water when a switch was thrown. The water would gently flow over the floor, loosening up and carrying away the accumulated crud. Possibly some Mr Clean could be added to the mix during the wash cycle. After a half hour of flow, all would be spotless. In this house, heating is done in the Norwegian subfloor style, and the floors would warm up and dry themselves.
Underfloor heating.

Baked in an apartment I used to live in in the Bronx, except we never cleaned it. |

I think the water velocity was set too high in the pictured house. |
