Probably illegal, but sounds like fun.

"Whoa! He's going to have to pull his arms in if he wants to stay inside the landing zone!"

       This is an awesome idea.

       Will there be rockets ? Please, we want there to be rockets ...

       This may well result in the spectacular and untimely death of numerous world-class athletes. [+].

       A little steam-powered or electromagnetic ram boosting could be interesting.
RayfordSteele, Feb 19 2018

       Good idea. This is all off the shelf stuff too. Go buy a wing suit, go buy some skis, put them on and go.

       Gonna happen.
Nice.

       There will be a few deaths.

       My guess is that its already happened somewhere, probably withe a Go-Pro camera equipped.

       //Go buy a wing suit, go buy some skis, put them on and go.// All well and good until you remember, at some critical point in your downhill, pre-launch progress that regular wingsuits include a web between the legs that partly hobbles you.
MaxwellBuchanan, Feb 20 2018

       // party hobbles you //

       You mean it spoils the àpres-ski ?

       // electromagnetic ram boosting //

       Metal skis. Better, superconducting ceramic skis, filled with liquid nitrogen ... and linear motors in the ski ramp. Zero friction, float down on the Meissner effect.

       Make sure that wingsuit is good for transonic veloicties ....

       //party hobbles you//

       //veloicties// Pot. Kettle.

       Yes, please. Earl Grey, hot, cream, two lumps.

       //regular wingsuits include a web between the legs that partly hobbles you.//

       Not enough to restrict the motion you need to ski downhill thought right? Don't you just put your legs together and slide?

       Re link: So the guy didn't go as far with the wing suit? I think his angle was all wrong. All drag, no lift. He needs to flatten out almost completely or he's just wearing air brakes.

       He can't flatten out just by leaning forward. He needs to lock his skis to his chest right after launch via handles and Velcro or something so the entire configuration is that of a flying squirrel. If he leans forward enough for his body to be horizontal with the skis pointing downward, they're acting as wind brakes and control surfaces pushing him down.

       Of course before he landed he'd have to push the skis away from his chest or he'd land flat on his face.

       //Earl Grey... cream//

       Words fail me.

       <snigger>

       Let us know when the projectile vomiting subsides.

       // Don't you just put your legs together and slide? //

       Sorry, is this about skiing or some reality TV star ?

       [IT], that's just cruel, bad and wrong. You should be ashamed, but since you're clearly incapable of that, perhaps you could strive for embarrassed.
