SZPs are made of three layers: The inner closely woven with aluminium and carbon impregnated fibre, the middle a loose spacer mesh and the outer a wire gauze. Worn during the pestilential mosquito season, the inner and outer layers are connected to a portable high voltage generator powered by a PP3.
Mosquitoes
seeking to suck the blood of the wearer will receive the full potential difference across their head and will be struck dead.
An optional counter and LCD readout will count the number of discharges and keep up a running total and a continuously updated hourly rate.

You could also make "fogger" pants - use your own discretion as to where the "fog" emanates from |

I would suggest a plastic zipper. |

What happens if you touch your own leg? It seems that you will be connected both to the inside potential (through your leg's contact with the inside of the pants) and the outside potential (through your hand). Bound to give you a nasty jolt! |

We have very few mosquitoes around these parts so I'll pass. I do like the idea of the running total display though. |

Crank up the voltage high enough and you could get some nifty arcing between the outer and inner layers.
Could be impressive as you walk in low light conditions and the layers at various points get compressed and arcing ensues. I have a 5000v 30mA "bug zapper" transformer laying around somewhere if you want to do some testing (on yourself of course). |

I can't help but imagine someone walking around with hundreds of dead mosquitoes hanging off their pants. |
Well, phoe, that's my unpleasant thought for today. Thanks. |
[waugsqueke] The true unpleasantness comes from the lingering aroma I neglected to mention earlier. |

Better dead mosquitos hanging from their pants than live flies swarming around them. |
half: I'm not a bug, not by half. |
Phoe: Zap! And they fall off. |
bzackey: Wash. That dog is probably trying to locate some place to place his turds. |
RfS: You're right! Better pyrotechnics than involuntary blood donation. |
mwb: Why not make the outer skin "ground" potential, ie, the same as your body, insulate the inner layer and charge that? That way, you can touch your legs with impunity. |
Better take extra care with the zipper, though. I'd hate the thought of John Thomas being meted the same fate of the hapless mosquito. |
