Made of nylon it works as follows.
You push the contraption onto material.
The thread is pushed through the material lead by a "needle"
while nearby, at the same time, a loop is pushed through it.
The needle bends over into the loop.
When coming back up the loop fits into a crack in the
needle
catching the thread, breaking the needle, and pulling the
thread up after the loop.
You now press again. This time (without the needle) the two
threads are pressed together and a tiny plastic seal holds
them together.
Voilla: a single stitch. You can put a few of these in a row
(perhaps held together with some kind of ruler) to get a long
stitchline. or just use one to fix that torn shirt or missing
button.

Good apart from needed throwaway. |

Are 1/2/3 stitches enough for a button? I don't think so,
but then I'm very hard on buttons, so much so that on
mission-critical* buttons I replace the thread with
monofilament fishing line and finish off with a dab of
glue. |

For patching fabrics, if you don't mind the look, stuff like
RTV/silicone works very well. Squirt on a square, slap on
patch, press around the edges, and wait. Fast and totally
wash proof. |

[bs0u0155], great minds think alike. I use nylon line as SOP
for fixing any buttons (and sometimes for other stitching
too...). |

Completely off topic but at one time the buttons of the Canadian military were edible and in an emergency could be used to make broth. |
|
|
//How many did you try...?// |
|
|
Many of the broth buttons were given away before the men clued in to the fact that they were not indeed of any use whatsoever in brothels themselves. |

Well, I love the edible button story! |

im not sure how your product would work being
made of nylon! I posted a link to handheld sewing
machines in case you really needed one! Rarely
can anything be fixed with one stitch, so These
little gadgets will make a couple stitches for you.
Im going to give a bun because it seems like a
good idea even if I dont understand how it works! |

|
I didnt say this idea was not halfbaked, but I
actually dont understand how it works. especially
how the product can be made out of nylon! I need
a bit more description to understand this. |

It's a very elaborate stapler using plastic staples |
