Bicycles where the rider faces forward suffer from one major draw back, the rider always presents their front profile to the air flow and thus always suffers the greatest wind resistance. The rider's side profile is narrower and more streamlined and thus were the rider to sit side-saddle, would then
achieve the greatest speed. Naturally the peddles and gearings would have to be at 90 degrees to the bike frame and a 45 degree mirror would need to be fitted to the rider's helmet to afford a forward view of the road ahead to avoid accidents.
