A model super tanker intricately assembled half in and half out of a Klein bottle intriguingly illustrates the one-sided containers properties.

So, you mean the tanker is single sided too and the oil runs out, no matter where I put it? I wouldn't put that on my desk, no matter how gifted I am. |
[kbecker] No, the tanker is three dimensional on the two dimension glass ocean, and being a model, it neednt be filled with oil. One could fill it with Cutty Sark scotch as a Klein hip flask. |

Captain: What the hell is that thing up ahead? |
First Mate: I haven't got a clue. |
Captain: It'd better not be that bloody Bermuda Triangle...we'll never get out. |
Navigator: Worse, its a Bermuda Klein Bottle...we'll never get in. |
First Mate: Red alert...all hands to Geometry stations... |

Ow! I've just been looking at the Klein Botttle website. My head hurts! |
Check out the page I've linked. Look at the diagrams of topological equivalents. Does "sausage" look vaguely familiar? (Stop sniggering at the back, there!) |
I think the proposal to use the 2D "sausage" representation to mean 0/0 (or "indefinity") has a distinctly halfbakerish flavour. |
I think the hb should adopt the keyring. thats so us! |
But how do the deckhands know if they're coming or going? |
FJ, anything with a Klein bottle gets my vote, especially this! |

Oh, buddy, I want one. [+] |

can someone please tell me whats really so special about a klien bottle? The neck is bent into the bottle. wow. |
The mathematical version is more complex than that, Voice. It exists only in 4D space, and has no intersection between the neck and body where the 3D approximation does. |
