I'm considering a way to re-imagine Sherlock Holmes, but in a South or Central American setting...

Obviously the easy story would be the one with the bad guy getting chased by a huge dog and falling foul of the Grimpen Maya.

I'm in condition today...

Annotation:

Well, he would get a massive reduction in his charlie bills...to be honest, I just wrote it for the pun at the end.

Anyway, he'd be buggered unless he could know all the different colours of mud, and one continent has a lot of variety of mud.

Presumably the first story in the series would become "A Scandal In Bolivia" …

He'd still need his deerstalker hat and Ulster cape to keep him warm, as it's well known that the very southernmost parts of the continent are Chile …

       Wah, waah, waah.

Damn, why didn't I think of that one...

Avert the gaze of children, I'm going to bun myself without shame..

Right, "His Last Bolas: Some Later Reminiscences of Sherlock Holmes"..not really working, I'm all punned out.

Remembers being severely put out that Tess of the d'Urbervilles featured scant Holmes and Watson, especially after the Hound of the Baskervilles had proven so enjoyable.

You should have bought the Reader's Digest version - Best of the d'Urbervilles.

I think Penelope Cruz would make a great Watson...
4whom, Jan 14 2014

With Tom Cruz as a rather short Sherlock ?

With Tom Cruise as Harry Pendel...

Cruella of the DeVilles, however, went straight to the dogs.

Different laws. Holmes logic is less valued.

Guilty until proved innocent, Not Innocent til proved guilty. Criminals think different.

"I might as well take this shovel since I am going to be blamed for it anyway. If I leave it here and someone else takes it then, I am out shovel, the price of a new shovel, and a day or two in jail. Best to take it and give it back. Wish the boss wouldn't leave his stuff lying around."
