As more and more people take up the sports of scuba diving and snorkeling there is a growing population of people who Ad Execs have not yet taken advantage of.

The Selling Sub is a small submersible craft that "flies" about below the surface of the water over or within popular diving locations. It operates in a variety of modes depending on the location. These include;

1)Using biodegradable light sensitive dyes it will spell out advertising messages near the surface of the water for the visiting divers.

2)For deeper dive locations or very shallow reef locations the little sub can drag a banner along behind it with your message in bright letters.

3)For very deep locations LED panels allow for easy viewing in the dark.

A solar power array allows this battery powered sub to recharge as needed, or it can return to its home base for recharging.

       Cool, something to harpoon.

Light doesn't travel well underwater, but sound does. Just use massive loudspeakers to pummel your advertising into the victims's skulls.

I don't even like the thought of this.

(I see a young couple on their honeymoon. They go scuba diving while vacationing in Cozumel for the very first time. Then suddenly *Kerplunk*, along comes a sub sign advertising Subway Sandwichs).

Why not also tatoo advertising slogans on the sides of fish and dolphins? I hear some flourescent dyes show up well under water.

"Future Serve - Long John Slivers!!!"

"See this Redfish Soon...at your table....courtesy -Red Labster!"

Toxicity to the fish and surroundings should not matter...there are an unlimited supply of fish in the oceans........aren't there? Think of the tatoo artists it would employ.

I will personally create an artificial reeflet everytime I encounter one of these devices.

[blissmiss] the point is not whether you like it or not, if you go to the beach today you will have an airplane fly by with a banner behind it, or a boat with a banner on it, This is the next natural extension of that.

[normzone] Do you do that to airplanes and blimps now?
jhomrighaus, Mar 21 2007

I understand that, and I don't like them either. If I had a bee-bee gun, I'd shoot em down.
blissmiss, Mar 21 2007

       It fires bees? Interesting.

Like, wepid. You could do messages and logos with one of those bubble displays.
MaxwellBuchanan, Mar 22 2007

I once proposed the idea that we jettison billboards into black holes, so we could lay the groundwork for sales in other dimensions. The idea did not go over well.

[bob] Given the hairlessness of black holes, how would you arrange payment?
