Secession: the Game

Simulating the results of blue states seceding from the Union

Since the last presidential election, there has been a lot of talk about what would happen if the blue states (states that Kerry took in the electoral college) withdrew from the United States to form their own country. This simulation would allow us to choose states to remove (so we wouldn't just be limited to the 'real' blue states), and watch the results. This software could be simplistic, taking into account a limited number of variables, or complicated, simulating armed conflicts as the country tries to hold itself together.

Could it include a number of West Virginia-like states that are so backward they secede INTO the US?

Might work better as a user created mod to an existing strategy game.

Having said that, I'm British and I find this interesting since I've always wanted to see the US broken down into several smaller countries. There is such a thing as too big a country.
