Robots do so many useful, helpful things for humans. They build our cars, explore neighboring planets, vacuum floors, etc. Now that it's the 21st century we really should express our appreciation for the humble droids that make our lives a little bit easier. We could all dress up like robots and listen
to electronic music while doing the robot with real robots. Best of all, it's on Friday so we all get a three day weekend.

This is a good idea, mostly because it guarantees us that, when robots take over the world, they will be kind enough to give us a "human day". |
Would they get the day off? Or just us? |
A day off from what? Robots will rule the world. Rulers of the world don't ever work, ask G.W. Bush. |
When I worked at the uni of Auckland all our robots looked like rubbish bins, like style deprived versions of R2D2. That would be a hoot dressing up like that....NOT. |
[Peri] No, I mean now. That way, when they do rule the world maybe they'll give us a day off once a year. |

I can't wait to be a robot slave. Hurraaaaaay! |
"Whip me harder CS-42-D!!!" |
That's not the kind of slave I was thinking, but... Whatever tickles your pickle. |
[Worldgineer] All robots and humans dressed up like robots get the day off. The rest of you meatbags get back to work. |

<Bender voice> "Sounds good to me, I'll get back to scamming and robbing tomorrow" </bv> |

I don't like meaningless holiday. We could do some useful work during the Robot Day. It could be something like Robot exhibition. On these days all discussed about robots of nowadays and thinking of new - better ones. [+] |

Yeah, a progressive robot day. Mosfet, linear actuate me through the goal posts of life, Lord, Lord. |
Robot philosophy. I like it. |
I also like [Inyuki]'s idea of one day a year when everyone has to put their minds to one problem. I might bake that in a different form if that's ok with you, [Inyuki]. |

[wag], I'm having an exciting day on the guitar experimental bench with a mini robot in progress. It's still a thrill to pull apart electronic surplus and find a part that will save fifty hours of labour. |

[mens] - If I post you a disposable camera, will you take some photos of your projects and send it back?
Even better, could you get hold of a digital camera and post them for everyone to see? |
[wag], I will search out a camera and let you know. I recently found energy from a new meal enhancement product designed by a triathlete at all health food stores. I have done elaborate two hour set-ups per shot in the past on numerous occasions. I just caught up on backed up work. I don't like lab shots, things gotta look out of the twilight zone. |
Great [mens]! My email address is on my profile page if I can do anything. Can't wait to see the cassette machine set-up. |
Thanks, [UB], I think I can squeeze through the door of that definition in my mind but maybe not yours by saying that my current stuff involves moving arrays of LEDs that give shapes of many looks. Are they a condensing of those power pictures of decades ago when people lit a hillside with electronic flashes over an eight hour time period? This is more like feedback loops and auto-intelligence. I should be able to walk through a vacant room with a prototype of this and pick up electromagnetic or non-visible wavelength patterns if they are there. |

Inventing, based on experiments this weekend, was like hurtling down a hallway at 700 mph, deciding which optional door to enter next. One of the doors I opened was to robotic guitar strings where every point along the length is both monitored and controlled. Initial experiments confirmed a way to do this. I don't know what R and D guitar string work is going on out there similar to this. Another door is that a visual object is scanned to control how a string reacts. It is not metal anymore. I can say that I have three-phase electricity on the guitar body now. But yeah, inventors use creative licence to rip off their cultural icons. |

[Wag], great, I'll send you an e-mail. The cassettes decks are all strapped to a tubular metal chair at the moment. I call it the electric chair. It's a phot op. It's not wired up yet. Once I discovered the little heads with their tape guides could fit in a VCR spinning tape head, I stopped momentarily to consider incorporating it. |

What's with all the robot-related ideas on halfbaked as of late? |
As of late? There was a Futurama reference in the comments. |
