Sit there relaxing,
Ancient transportation cart,
Running man pulls it?
Two pedal it now.
Mechanical legs, no man.
My idea this.
A mechanized running man pulls the cart, pedal-powered by the passengers. There is no rolling front wheel. It's a propulsion device with
legs, or in the shape of a "man" with running legs.
A flywheel could store some energy, and back-pedaling could be for brakes. Steering could be done cooperatively with levers on each side (down the cart poles). A straight run down the block will be enough of a workout for most people. This will be more of a "stationary bike" than a race car. Don't focus on the term "bicycle". This thing has legs in front.
This can be expanded into cartless walking craft, such as, of course, the pedal-ostrich. Two mechanical walking legs, with the flywheel for stability.
If you must vote for the recumbent, have your running man in back of the cart, pushing, but only figuratively. That's similar to the outstanding [LINK] "Running Man / Following Man".

I could kick myself for not fully explaining the idea.

That false colour is really effective. |

In that old photo? Yes, they did a good job. It takes some skill to "paint" a black and white picture, by hand with special photo pigments. But it can produce very nice effects. I've had some success with Photoshop, even with little artistic ability. |

Recumbent, two-man bicycle, this idea hot as bright late summer's day |

//pedalling man powers it?// per the [LINK], that's a nice bike, [Canuck-San]! But, this idea has mechanical legs. I've added the clarification. |

Two men driving
Mechanical ambulation
Would rather hike, you? |

Two legs work for this. Four legs would work twice as well. Borrow from mech donkey. |
