These windshieldwipers move rhythmicly
to your music. They might do a simple to-
the-beat wipe, or stop and go wipes,
maybe with a swing.
Naturally, the main function of the wipers
(keeping your windshield clear, fyi) should
not be interfered with. And they should
not run dry, giving off
that horrible noise.
The answer can lie in (a combination of)
two solutions:
- bpm control with rainsensor input
- lift the wipers (by hovercraft type
hovering or actual lifting, as described in
other half baked ideas here).
BPM control might not be enough: You can
only do so much with BPM control to
music, before it gets really weird. So there
should be a margin, like 75%-133% and
outside of that margin, a new song is
selected. Ideally, the BPM of the new song
should be chosen by estimating the rate of
change in rain (or bugs or whatever reason
your rain sensor tells your wipers to wipe).
It would make driving in hard rain a very
interesting experience, though probably
not a safe one. Therefore, the rhythmic
wipers should only dance, when there is
not so much rain. I call for research.
This idea has a now defunct link for "Keeping the beat wipers", an HB idea by [kwkwkw]

My mechanic says I'm not allowed to play any more of those crazy syncopated jazz beats in the car. Apparently, Bosch recommend Bach. |

I have Buis relatives. Are you them? |

Sounds like a lot of effort for a pretty pointless technology. |

My wipers allways say to me, "Why are you here? Why are
you hear?" Wiper noises can be good for half-heard genius
stuff. |

One may also choose to lift the wipers
in the air and wave them around like
one just doesn't care.
@half: all signs point to yes. |

I would like rhythmic whispers in my car. |

There was a commercial for a VW jetta that did just this, and it was great. |
