You know, the kind of house phone that actually had bells in it? Get a sample of that sound and use it as a ring tone in a modern cell phone.

I like it. But why stop at "phone" sounds? You could have packages like "Farmtones". I'd certainly enjoy having a phone that barked or mooed.

// phones that wiggle when someone calls //

Thankyou , [bliss] for "bizarre image of the day". I have a vision of a big wobbly green cellphone, made out of silicone rubber or silly putty, looking like a bizarre caterpillar or slug with numbers spotted all over it, squirming and wriggling acoss the table every time you get an incoming call.

Like I said, I'd enjoy one. If it ended up annoying someone, mission accomplished. Then again, most cel phones have annoying ringtones. I say, if it's going to be annoying, it may as well go "moooooo!".

Yes, this is baked. There are a few handsets that can play digital sound samples as ring tones, and the CTO of our company has one which is set to do exactly what you said. Its quite the conversation starter when it goes off in a meeting.

When my videophone gets an incoming call it plays a WAV file that says "We are the Borg. Resistance is futile. You will be assimilated".

       That gets people's attention, too.
