Remote control for parking lot

Don't walk to your car

I have seen people start the engine on their car remotely. It doesn't really make sense to me - unless you fear certain types of car bombs - but since they started that nonsense the manufacturers could add a little joystick to the keyring remote that actually allows to drive the car at some low speed. That way people can drive the car up to a loading zone at the store and pack there instead of walking through the rain. Cars would have to be a little smarter than now to avoid obstacles that the person on the joystick cannot see.

As seen in James Bond, I take it.

// start the engine on their engine //

That's a neat trick. Dual engine cars.

jutta: well, yes, I guess you didn't see the film where he drove the BMW around the parking garage by remote control. (Sorry, I forget which one it was, they all tend to blur after a while.)

I think that film was 'You Only Ever Never Say Live Again to Die another Living Daylight Savings Day' [DrC]

Around here probably +50% of the cars have remote starters, that would be alot of cars wandering around.

btw people get remote starters so that they can wait inside while their cars warm up, You must be from a warm climate if you couldn't figure that one out.

On cold days when you don't REALLY wanna venture out and start a car to let it warm up ... or in really hot climates you might prefer to remotely start you car and let the A/C run for a bit before getting in the car ...

+ I think parallel parking would be a lot easier if you could get out and stand on the curb. But, somehow, I can’t picture David Hasseloff, James Bond, or Batman ever having to do that.

Remote Car Starters are for the weak! The weak who don't care about air polution either.

I need to be warm (or cool) RIGHT AWAY! I don't give a dang if I am distrubing the whole neighborhood by idling my car for 20 minutes. Fumigate that lanscape- who cares! my car is climate controlled.
