Entering immigration at Changi airport in Singapore there is a sign that says something to the effect of 'drug smuggling in this country is punishable by death.' I suggest to take this further to include helpful cultural information about the particular country you are entering. An LED scrolling panel with short random statements :

'vehicles drive on the left side in this country'

'the metric system is used in this country'

'it is legal to drink alcohol in public in this country'

'you may find things like dog on the menu in restaurants in this country'

"Singapore is a fine country. We have fines for everything."
I like the idea, and I think it is already in use (or was once) at Bangkok immigration.
