Incidentally, why isn't "spacecraft" another word for "interior design"?

In this day and age, soldiers with big hats and red uniforms are a bit too conspicuous. A Ninja guard are not only largely invisible, but trained killers, which is a bit of deterrent. The changing of the guard will be silent affair save for a few whooshing sounds.

       Isn't this basically what the Special Air Service Regiment is? I mean, I don't want to give away any secrets here, but {tap-tap} {thud}

       [gilgamesh], what makes you think they don't already exist?
Jinbish, Jun 06 2009

       I saw a ninja pop out've a grenadier's bear skin headgear once.

       I never saw that ninja again.
skinflaps, Jun 06 2009

       Ninjas are supposed to be masters of disguise, and hiding in plain sight. I wouldn't be surprised if the "royal guards" were only decoys, and the funny people in khaki shorts and Hawaii shirts, holding cameras, were the actual Queen's own Ninjas.
Veho, Jun 06 2009

       Has anyone properly looked into the whole pluralization issue regarding "Ninja"? Is "Ninja" truly singular? If so, is the plural "Ninjae" or "Ninjas" or what?

       Or, if (as I suspect) "Ninja" is a plural noun, what is the singular? One Ninj, two Ninja? One Ninjus, two Ninja? One Ninjum, two Ninja?

       Or is the point that you never actually know how many Ninja[s/e] there is/are?
MaxwellBuchanan, Jun 06 2009

       [Jinbish] I've never seen 'em... Ahhh!
Dub, Jun 06 2009

       Psst; I don't think Japanese has plural forms.

       Ninja ga hitori, ninja ga futari, ninja ga sannin... (one ninja, two ninja, three ninja...)
Ninja no kazu ga masu to tomo ni ninja de wa nai hito ga tsukunakunaru desho ka. (As the number of ninja goes up, the people who aren't ninja become fewer, right?)

       Ninjas are like uncertainty states. If you look whether they are there you collapse them.

       [pertinax] Are you aware of the story of why the roman numerals on clockfaces have "IIII" rather than "IV"? { That's right! Someone French invented the reason! You'd have thought Louis XIV - Not Louis XIIII would have known better... but when you're king and head of state, subjects do as they're told...}

       Are you going to be the person who tells HRH QE II this news?
Dub, Jun 07 2009

       Clockfaces have "IIII" instead of "IV" (often - not always) because it looks more balanced that way, sitting across from "VIII", and makes the face prettier.
MaxwellBuchanan, Jun 07 2009

       So the Antiques Roadshow lied?! Damn!

       [Dub] My, [pertinax], it appears you've lost some... height!

       [pertinax]... worst thing was, I didn't see it coming!
