Transparent OLEDs were recently announced. Maybe your dream will come to reality. |

I did some googleing and asking my buddy jeeves and found no products or ideas like mine. Anyone have any ideas on how to make this better? |

What is the "mac os x" comment abou... oh never mind. |

I forgot about the mac lusers. |

Cool idea, although the technical aspect is rather prohibitive at the moment. I've seen LCD windows, but they've always been an "all-or-nothing" approach (see link) 1-way patterned / pixeled LCD's (monitors) and 2-way solid gradients (smart windows) are easy enough, but 2-way pixels are fairly complicated. Bun for a sweet idea though! |

bristolz - the Mac os X comment means that this would be
great if the computer controlling it was a Macintosh...
otherwise the window might spend most of it's time
displaying messages such as: error, download this patch,
"Hi ! I'm Bill Gates and I can't understand why everyone
thinks I'm such a dweeb, but I'm launching a new
operating fab system called Foghorn soon..." |

I love my Mac - we're having babies. (+ for original idea, by

In a world without walls or fences, who needs windows or gates? |

//In a world without walls or fences// In a world without walls, think twice before taking a shower. |

There are windows that turn opaque when a current is applied (as seen on Grand Designs). You could easily make one that revealed an image when turned on, or maybe even a series of images showing a simple animation |

//There are windows that turn opaque when a current is applied // As a fail-safe anti-embarrassment feature, I think they turn transparent when a current is applied.
//You could easily make one that revealed an image when turned on, or maybe even a series of images showing a simple animation// These can be seen in some retail display cases. |
