Professionally Destroyed Clothing
New clothing can be given to laborers who will destroy it in the course of their work, and then it can be sold for hundreds of dollars | |
I think that new work clothes can be given to people who work construction and so on, and then recovered from them after they have become very worn and damaged. They can then be sold for hundreds of dollars each. The selling point would be that the damage is characteristic of the particular type of working
done. A roofer would have their clothes damaged in a different way then a framer or a concrete worker.
Some of the buyers might become fans of particular workers, so that "Jake the steelworker from Pittsburgh" might produce clothing That would be in such demand that it could fetch extremely high prices.
And so, laborers would get a steady stream of new clothing, while the wealthy clientele will have some of the most exclusively damaged clothing in the world.

Excellent. I am looking for a cheap suit that has been worn by an unsuccessful estate agent. |

I'd say this is my favorite HB idea in YEARS! |
|
|
This is really brilliant, I would love to see this be one of the few HB ideas that's actually carried through with. |

I'll add the thing that would really make this great, the workers get all the money, maybe in a retirement plan. (Minus a 10% sales fee or something) |

A fine idea. I exhibited a creative piece of work a few years ago about the entire industries devoted to deliberate garment destruction, and would happily have included this idea. See also "you bought the jumper..... " idea. |
