Proboscis For People

Not just for lepidoptera

Nature has smiled upon the butterfly. Not only has she a pair of fashion-print wings, but she also sports a roll-up drinking straw built right into her mouth.

Wouldn’t you like one of those? Now you can have your very own proboscis incorporated into the upper plate of your dentures. A special action of the tongue makes it unroll and protrude from just below your incisors. Sip daintily from a bottle, glass or mug – no more awkward slurping. When you're done, it rolls up again.

I'm quite happy to use a straw, thanks.

Can you shoot peas through it?

       if not, why not?

I never use straws myself, so why would I want one attached to my face. Straws are for children.

Surely it`s relative though. I mean - proboscii are for butterflies; but when they grow up they get to be catterpillars, right? So none of this "children" talk then.

if you can't spell "caterpillar" you're not allowed to try fake latin pluralisms.
