Pool noodles are neat things; basically big cylinders of foam that you can use to float around various bodies of water. They sell pretty cheaply in most hardware stores during the summer months. But I think that we can move beyond this single application: $50 worth of noodles, a saw, and a hot glue gun
could easily transform them into a couch, chair, or other piece of furniture.
"But that's silly," you say, "why would people want to sit on multicoloured things made out of polymer foam?"
Here's why: noodles are COMFORTABLE. Remember back when they sold those ones with holes in them that you could use to make rafts? Laying on them is comfortable, and not just in the water. Also, furniture could be quite cheap, and with a little ingenuity you could probably even make it modular.
Also, in the event of a flood, they can serve as flotation devices.

Pool furniture that uses pool noodles
http://www.poolcent...dles_water_logs.htm Not what this invention describes - these are add-on pieces that you'd susped between pool noodles. [jutta, Apr 18 2007]
TV: While You Were Out, episode 23
http://tlc.discover...de23/episode23.html Mentions making a pool noodle couch. I watched that episode back then, but I don't remember which of the couches in the photo gallery it is - and it doesn't quite bring out the noodliness enough. [jutta, Apr 18 2007]

Great idea! There could be something like a springy, slightly curved steel bar that connects to itself, and that you stick inside the noodles to get support (making frame-like things), and a flexible figure-8 shaped piece you use to tie noodles together (making textile-like things). |

Looking at pictures of these 'pool noodles' of which you speak, they seem long and flexible enough to weave. Is that right? |

Presumably with a big enough supply you could make anything you wanted to. |

This would be pretty much the same as Nerf furniture, right? |

There is a lot of foam furtniture out there. I would be very surprised if some of it wasn't made out of the same stuff as pool noodles. Though maybe it's the garish colors and children's teethmarks effect that you were after? |

If you have that glue gun handy, I am sure you could turn a handsome trade turning these things out for the craft market. |

Okay, that's twice now I've read this as "Pot Noodle Furniture" |

A good idea, though probably better if it *looked* like pot noodles, rather than softening in hot water. |

I'd prefer Batchelors Super Noodle
furniture. The little noodle briquettes are
like wickerwork when dry, but would
soften when wet to allow shape formation.
Then let them dry out again and you have
a wickerwork recliner. |
