Tires inflated with air provide shock absorption for our vehicles. There are even shoes like "Nike Air Jordans" which have a little air pocket in the sole to provide some cushioning.

We need to spread this to other types of fitness gear.

We need inflatable pneumatic gloves to enable you to do push-ups or lift barbells without squashing the palms of your hands. Especially when you're lifting very heavy weights, you don't want to be squashing your flesh in excruciating ways.

When using cable machines, there are cuffs/straps which you can attach to your ankles, or even to your forearms to avoid putting strain on your wrists. But even these straps/cuffs can still cut into your flesh while using them. There need to be fatter versions of these based on pneumatic padding, to avoid such problems.

Isn't that what neoprene foam is? Seems to work pretty well. Is bubble size the variable we're working with?

       @ minoradjustments: yes

we still want the extra comfort of the pneumatic cushioning while maintaining a snug fit, a la "Air Jordan" shoes.

Remember the inflatable thing they put on your arm when measuring your blood pressure? Or the inflatable "wings" they give to little kids in the pool? I was also thinking about something like those. They have to be broad enough and comfortable.
