Pictogram Word Processor

Replaces your words with pictures if you might want to do that for some reason

So you'd type "The cat in the hat went to bat." and the word / pic processor would create:

The (picture of a cat) in the (picture of a hat) went to (picture of a bat)

This would allow your texting to have fewer words and more pictures if you wanted to do that for some reason.

Perhaps it could be used to humorous effect? Yea, that might be one reason you'd want to do this. Sure, humorous effect.

This is the future of written communication. Bunned.

       So Hieroglyphs / pictograms then?

Didn't the Egyptians (not to mention half a dozen other civilisations) bake this millennia ago.

Which would make it the past of written communication wouldn't it?

Sorry [-] but this is a bit like proposing the invention of the wheel.

What [Skewed] said ... also Katakana ideograms ?

       WKTE.

Also, the International Symbolic Alphabet ?

The pictogram word processor was a popular product for some time, but challenges inherent in the process doomed it.

       Operator training was required.

While document duration could be long term, sometimes climate variation destroyed valuable records.

Mass production was difficult, so the process was better suited to a niche market, limiting sales of equipment.

And, some media choices required that the finished product be...baked.

Did you search to see if anybody has done this yet? It seems so readily doable that I would expect that some wag or student would have played at this by now.

I've had the same idea, though my intention was as a tool for writing Forth code.

Pedant alert...I don't katakana are ideograms...the kanji are...

PS those 419 spam emails are quite annoying enough, without it being in pictograms.

PPS Surely the Picts have copyright of this?

PPPS (further pedant alert) Picts: a confederation of Celtic tribes (probably) that ceased to be long before copyright law was invented ;)

Was it faster than a horse ;)
Skewed, Jul 01 2014

Q: "What are the three fastest forms of communication ?"

A: "Telephone, telegraph, and tell a woman ..."

<Dives into dugout bunker, frantically piles sandbags in doorway>

       You're right, [n_m_rm], it's kanji
