Photomosaic paint job

Because it hasn't been done yet.

So I find myself wondering if one could 'paint' a car with those little foil wrappers Hershey's Kisses come in. Not paint-paint, I mean adhese-paint. Like gold leaf. There's a term for that but it escapes me now and it's not important anyway except to say a Hershey foil car would be second-place cool only to an anodized paint job (which I just posted as it didn't exist until I posted it).

Anyway, the image of hundreds of Hershey's Kiss wrappers covering a car lead me to the image of creating an image with them - Easter's upon us and Kisses are available in a number of pastel colored foils. Then I thought: Why stop there?

You could mosaic with anything: old parking tickets, Dilbert cartoons, Post-It notes, TPS reports, resumes, tile, etc. Of course traditional paint would be best (and most in line with 'photomosaic').

The key, in my mind, would be originality and cleverness. Make your car look stock from a distance, but give those around you something to do when you're stuck in a traffic jam.

Decoupage coupe. Heh, as bristolz would say.

The decoupage-on-the-car aspect is new to the bakery, but the photomosaic using found items thing is already covered in an idea from last December. (See link).

I found a web page about a woman who completely covered her small car with pieces cut from AOL CD's so the car looked like a scaley fish. But the link seems to have died, alas.
krelnik, Apr 04 2003

Ah, I see. Actually that's not the same car (I think the AOL CD one was a Geo Metro) but the same concept. Thanks.

I can see where one would think I was placing a lot of emphasis on decoupage/montage style art, but that's really not where I wanted to go. My idea wasn't to create a textured surface for your auto, but to create a paint job that looked like something it wasn't. And if one recycled the odd bit of trash while doing it, so much the better. That's why all the trash examples I used were paper-based.

Montage is where I meant the emphasis to be in this idea (the 'photo' aspect coming from the car being painted, possibly with pictures of the car itself - though I don't spell that out).

Well that having been said, I think you are skirting close to being redundant with my linked idea. The only difference is where you display the art (I suggest a frame, you're using a car).

[aside: there are some cars hanging from the ceiling at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. 3 or 4 Minis all done up in various designs. One is covered with pink fur, another is newspaper, a third is mirror-finished. They were used on a U2 tour apparently.]
