Perfect Competent People drama Television show
My problem with culture and society is that we've replaced organised religion with worship of bad people, violence and crime and negative aspects of society. What people regard as GOod TELVISION is usually of bad things going on | |
The majority of Netflix is shows of thrillers, violent, crime,
horror. There is very few light-hearted positive television of
good people doing good things.
I propose a television show which has GOOD DRAMA of
lots of good competent people showing themselves to be
awesome good people and the
drama of everyday life.
It should depict people being profoundly competent in their
careers, somewhat educational. You can have nurses,
doctors, scientists, politicians, government all doing things
and effecting eachother.
Good drama means amusing relationship scenarios. Not
smoking, drinking and infidelity but the typical drama of
someone not doing what someone else wants or not
understanding something
The goal is everyone on television is someone you want to
be as they're so awesome.

"Reality TV" (aka. really bad competition shows) are the
epitome of this problem; they are pretty much all about
one thing: human conflict. Not the "contest" itself, but the
people arguing & lying & cheating etc (especially the
"renovate a house" shows, for some reason..?). (There are
some exceptions to this.)
It also annoys me in movies, particularly superhero-type
movies; the problem is always a "bad guy" that can be
beaten by punching him. I wish the writers could think
outside the box for a change. Throw Magnitude 11
earthquakes at the Avengers, that sort of "punching won't
fix it" scenario. |

Fred Rogers for adults. Or maybe any good science
show. Or PBS's CREATE channel. Or a construction
show. |

Where's the conflict? Where's the challenge? Where's the relatable character? Where's the interesting part? Where's the drama? Many attempts at wholesome sitcoms have been made over the years. I like I Dream of Jeannie. |

I've identified the problem: You're ignoring good shows and watching trash. On a related topic 94% of what Hollywood puts out has been trash for the past 20 years. |
|
|
I don't watch the "reality" shows; seeing the ads for them is
bad enough. And I watch a lot more than JUST Hollywood
superhero movies. |

There's a cooking show, which others in my family enjoy, in
which the audience watches competent cooks cooking
things. I don't find it very entertaining myself, but many
people do. Is that not widely known to exist? |
|
|
Or did you want a broader range of life skills on display, not
just good cooking? |
|
|
Hahahaha..... You could always also launch your own new
channel and call it Head In The Happy Sand Television. |
|
|
Youtubes of people building interesting things? |

Sounds like a fair summary definition to me. Anyway on to the idea itself, have you tried watching Postman Pat? I do believe what you describe does exist, but it is not labelled or categorised as you suggest. That is a labelling and categorising issue not a production or world moral values issue. |
