More often than not, nowadays, clickbait from the much of
the world's authoritative newspapers is accompanied by
paywalls.
While the amounts in question are often quite minimal, the
sheer nuisance of registration, the exposure (do you really
want people to know you've subscribed to the Wall
St.
Journal), and the tediousness of it all prevent most from
proceeding to read the story.
A while back I've even wondered if all these paywalls are
actually making the conversation more extreme (in the
linked idea)
In any case, the idea here is that you subscribe once to a
Netflix type service that gets you all the news that's fit to
paywall, and regularly updates that list, such that you can
access all this data with one universal sign in without
having to personally register with each and every news
outlet.
