Light shines through eyelids so I want them painted black
No transmittance anymore, I want them to be black
I sense the light turned on even though my eyes were closed
I have to turn my head until the brightness goes
I work a night shift and then when Im on my back
My wife
turns on the light its like my eyes are slapped
She sees me turn my head and quickly look away
Like a naked mole rat it just happens every day
I look from inside my lids and see the lights attack
What is wanted for is them to be painted black
Maybe then Ill sleep soundly and not have the retina smack
Its easy not waking up when your eyelids are black

Probably why they call it eye shadow. |

Heavy application of mascara should do the trick.
+ for an idea in verse though. |

If this is the Rolling Stones song, Paint It Black, it should be in the song category, methinks. |

Yes, but it's a nice piece of work nonetheless. |

"Like a naked mole rat, it just happens every day", in Mick Jaggers howl. |

You mean you can't tell? OK, point taken - the day job stays. |

This eyelid translucency thing got me to wondering, are people of darker skin tone less susceptible to ambient illumination induced rude awakenings? Difficult to juxtapose dark versus pale eyelids I guess, unless you are someone like Michael Jackson. |

There is NO-ONE like Michael Jackson - even we think he's weird .... |
