This is another part of my Gulf Stream to fresh water posting on halfbakery. (see link below)
Giant compute nodes like google builds need extensive power that gets converted into heat. That heat has to be extracted with air-conditioning which itself uses significant power. So google and yahoo build
their nodes near power plants in cold weather states. (see context link below)
If you put megawatt wind turbines on my super tanker cat and used waste water from the water processing system for cooling (much more efficient given the higher heat capacity of water) the compute nodes could be run without any CO2 production.
A fat fiber cable shouldnt be hard to run from ship to shore. Just the thing for either off shore banking or offshoring municipal processing. Given to push toward web based utility processing, municipal processing should be steady income.
It can be placed near a city, almost all large cities are on coastlines, and the zoning for a power plant is easy.
