The volcanic explosion of Krakatoa was one of the loudest noises in comparatively recent history. This event gives its name to the Nut Krakatoa device. This simple device breaks nuts, but delivers an amplified version of the resulting sound via its complimentary speaker horn, which is worn over the shoulder of the user.

The entire arrangement looks like a large tuba, with one end being the speaker horn, and the other end the actual nutcracker which is hand held, but connected to the horn via a length of flexible tubing.

Nuts cracked using Nut Krakatoa sound very very loud, with the emitted noise being further enhanced by slowing it down and making it louder again utilising digital enhancements contained within the instrument.
