NumbeReader

reads numbers humanly

Currently text to speech reads out numbers in secretary's correct and mostly monotonous voice: Zero, Five, Two, Nine. One, One, Two, Three, Five, Five, Five.

While NumbeReader says in a young woman's warm voice: Oh Fifty-Two, NineEleven. TwentyThree Triple Five. That's Zerofive Two. Nine won-won. TooThree. Fyfyfive.

It analyzes the number and generates speech the way it would be spoken by humans.

The next version will work on words and accents.

If someone built me a box with a speaker at the front of it and when switched on it delivered a totally random series of spoken two or one digit numbers in a never repeating series of different voices, I would pay for that box and exhibit it as a piece of my work. 6, 28, 94, 11, 55, 3, 66, 71, 82, 18, 26.......

[xenzag] have you come across numbers stations? fairly close to what you are looking for, //a box with a speaker at the front of it and when switched on it delivered a totally random series of spoken two or one digit numbers.../

I had heard of them, but they're not quite what I would like. The closest to what I would like can be heard on a Pat Metheny track from the Album "As Falls Witicha, so falls Witicha Falls" when a series of digits are read out.... 38, 42, 55, 3....

I solve this problem from the other end; I read out numbers in the manner of a machine. Over a bad phone line, with someone trying to take them down at the other end, it seems to help.
