Not really an invention as much as the addition of a missing
piece to a very clever invention somebody else though of but
didn't finish.
The below link shows a really cool "wave dock" that flexes
with the waves as you run along and jump in the water with
your surfboard.
So put wheels on
the surfboard and ride the dock like a
scateboard then veer off onto the wave.
Duh!

If you scale the dock down a bit, essentially it becomes a bendy surf
board. |

Skateboards (originally in longboard form) were maybe
actually invented by surfers wanting to practise on land. |

That flexible, land freed wharf could quite easily be dual function. |
