A set of eyeballs, to be placed at the bottom of a small - say 8'(l) x 3'(w) x 8'(d) - abyss dug into your lawn so that "when you gaze long enough into an abyss, the abyss also gazes into you", thus adding a certain Nietzschean flavour to an otherwise humdrum Sunday afternoon in the garden.

I have fairies at the bottom of my garden.

Are they in an abyss? Or do you have decking?

       abyssmal

I much rather see Nietzsche's abyss straight on. Because, let's face it, if you're looking down into it, it's clear who has the advantage.

I think an abyss is defined as bieng immeasurable in depth. This bieng said, I like the idea.
daseva, Mar 03 2007

       Hmmm. 8'x3'x8'.

       That's not an abyss. That's a grave!

<Constable Plod>"Okay, sicko, we've recovered the poor bastard's false eyeballs, but where've you hidden the rest of the body?"</CP>

       abyssinthe, for sure.

You'd have to bundle it with a monster (link), as the whole quote goes,

"Whoever battles with monsters had better see that it does not turn him into a monster. And if you gaze long into an abyss, the abyss will gaze back into you."
placid_turmoil, Mar 03 2007

I just like the idea of an abyss at the end of my garden. The eyeballs would be a bonus.

       I'd prefer a bus.

/Whoever battles with monsters had better see that it does not turn him into a monster./

Although temporarily turning into a monster could make you better at battling.
bungston, Mar 05 2010

What if you start out as a monster ?
