A full length feature movie produced by a television network featuring the top starts of the season. The actors play a role sililar to their television counterpart, but with a story that connects all the characters.

It would appeal to a wide audience, as everyone would go just to see their favorate character. The actors get their first movie break while experiencing a change of setting for once.

Annotation:

This is a great idea if you're a network executive. If not it just equates to dumbing down movies even more than they're dumbed down already. Sorry [Aq_Bi].

Sounds like an extended riff on one of HBO's general ads, where they bundle characters lifted from different shows, fitting their dialog together to make it sound like they're talking to eachother.

And that would, of course, be a much cheaper way to make the movie - lift clips from the soaps and weave them together.

Too restrictive. Without artistic freedom to audition the right person for the right role, and "too many cooks" having their say the movies would probably end up mediocre at best. And don't forget the importance of personal chemistry. What's the point of throwing all the top stars into the same movie, willy nilly, if they don't click with each other? A good movie is more than the sum of its parts.
