Yet again I have tried to make sure that this idea isn't baked and I am almost at the point of thinking that it might not be.
Anyway, I was wondering if it would be possible to add extra constituents to rain to distribute it to the masses.
As an example, albeit a bad one, I suggest antibiotics.
A plane carrying a tank of antibiotics and spray dispersal thingies could fly above/through a rain cloud and release the antibiotics in the form of droplets. These would mix with the droplets of water forming in the rain cloud, and would eventually fall to earth in the rain.
I realise that antibiotics is not a good idea, as:
1/ People would have to stand outside in the rain, thereby probably causing more illness than the drugs would cure. Oh dear.
2/ The antibiotics would increase the amount of resistant bacteria, thus exposing us all to terrifyingly horrible bacteria which could kill us all. Oh deary dear.
The up side, however, is that there are many agents that could be dispersed in this way, from the useful to the downright tasty. I would catch pneumonia in the freezing freezing rain if it meant catching a few drops of cola.
A sudden thought tells me that the agent would have to be incredibly concentrated... but that's not a problem... right?
Grape soda?

Stand out in the cola rain and get covered in sticky brown goo? Not to mention the nasty effects on the environment. I don't think so. However, some sort of silver compound and also dry ice have been used to trigger rain, but i don't think it came down in the rain as such. |
Well you could add nice happy things that Mother Nature would love. |
And it needn't be actual cola, just cola flavour... |
Soda/cola/pop syrup is very concentrated. Better hope it mixes properly, or you won't be able to taste much for a while. It's nasty stuff all by itself. |

I suppose you could add something relatively innocuous that neutralises the sulphuric acid without creating a further environmental problem, but i tend to think that it'd create a new unforseen problem and so on, ad infinitum. I wonder what would safely neutralise sulphuric acid that could be added to rain. |

I wonder if there are any vaccines that can be absorbed through the skin? On the (admittedly somewhat unlikely) assumption that there are: [+]. (Also for the title). |

Over farmland, have it rain liquid fertilizer, or hormones to make crops produce more fruit, or something harmless to control insect pests, depending on the season. |
Over the city, have it rain hair conditioner, or sheeting agents to keep cars from getting water spots. |
Over the financial district, have it rain pennies. |
Over San Francisco, have it rain men. (see link) |

Purple rain with potassium permanganate ... Maybe it would be fun, but I don't think it would be good. |
Probably anything than pure water would be a polutant. It would also cover all the open surfaces like cars, home windows, etc., which is unwanted consequence. Unless... it is easily evaporating material... |

Pennies from heaven anyone? |

//Purple rain with potassium permanganate // It would go brown pretty quickly - not nice. This could get Biblical - frog-spawn perhaps? Or Japanese car parts - Datsun cogs. |
