Obviously, this hairdo has the purpose of signalling "Don't even THINK of messing with me", or something like that.

The problem with Malcom Gladwell is that his mushrooming hair has no STALK. [Vernon, Jun 09 2005]

       suit's you, sir.
po, Jun 06 2005

Nah, I'm not usually upset with the world. And my hair is basically brown. I prefer a mad scientist's style.

Meanwhile, redheads are stereotypically tempermentally explosive, so I think the mushroom cloud hair style is just perfect for them. {Rephrasing due to comments below:} Meanwhile, redheads are stereotyped as tempermentally explosive, so certainly for the stereotype I think the mushroom cloud hair style is just perfect.
Vernon, Jun 06 2005

I think po is referring to a catchphrase. 'Toughest game in the world' never covered posting to the halfbakery, did it po?
Ling, Jun 06 2005

ha, neither did an obscurity contest.
po, Jun 06 2005

Certainly, if you were being followed by a cloud of mushrooms.
wagster, Jun 06 2005

Come on now, what have you done with the *real* [Vernon]?
AbsintheWithoutLeave, Jun 06 2005

The real [Vernon] has hired a temporary [Vernon] to keep his presence alive on the hb while the real [Vernon] works on his Grand Unified Idea. The GUI will incorporate all of his other ideas into a cogent mega-idea that makes sense but scrolls down through 263 screens of text.
wagster, Jun 06 2005

hired? I consider it more likely that he has built a robotic [Vernon] that has no regard for idea length.

       "List?"
Blumster, Jun 06 2005

In which case Ian, this idea is obviously [Vernon] getting very close.
wagster, Jun 06 2005

Another type of mushroom cloud: A puffball that has been hit by a golf club.
Yes, I did it in a wacky moment. A hint: don't even think about doing it.

How would you keep the cute little ring in place?
Worldgineer, Jun 06 2005

Excuse me! Where does it say that redheads are more tempermentally explosive????

And if so why would I want a MUSHROOM ON MY HEAD??!!

<grumbling> its flat all over and still gives me a bad hairday allmost always. Who needs a perm for that?>
Susan, Jun 06 2005

       //redheads are stereotypically tempermentally explosive,//
It says so right there in [Vernons] annotation and I know one tiny little girl who fits the description, [Susan].
zeno, Jun 06 2005

       Yeah! YOUR SISTER!!!!
Susan, Jun 06 2005

<blushing> oh, you mean our daughter <blushing>
Susan, Jun 06 2005

Sorry, no explosive temperment here. 'Fraid you'll have to peddle your stereotypes elsewhere.

Having red hair with a bit of wave and a lot of body, I have it cut specifically to avoid this sort of look. If I lived in a humid climate, I'd look that way regardless.
half, Jun 06 2005

Well, I did try to say it was the stereotype that was explosive. And while I did say that redheads are stereotyped, I didn't say outright that all redheads actually fit the stereotype. OK?
Vernon, Jun 06 2005

I hope I haven't set you of on the wrong foot [half] and [Vernon] for me the stereotype does comply. I was being stereotype in my anno's.

<no actual redhead was injured or hurt in anyway while reading this idea>
Susan, Jun 06 2005

Yeah, [Susan], I sorta got that. :) No worries, I was just weighing in. No need to justify yourself, [Vernon]. I wasn't offended or intending to offend.
half, Jun 07 2005

I thought "this is going to be about food". Nope. I must just be hungry.
reensure, Jun 07 2005

Actually, I have a bit of a thing for redheads.

I was thinking "light" mushroom cloud, [Pa`ve]. Imagine a soufflé or quiche, and round and dimpled like a big fritter; shaped like a thought balloon. Mm  mm. BAM!
reensure, Jun 07 2005

This is too short to be a Vernon. Who are you and what have you done with his hair?
DesertFox, Jun 07 2005

[reensure], [UnaBubba], others, this Idea was posted in a Fashion subcategory. If it had been about food, I think I might have managed to post it in that area instead.

[wagster], [pa've], regarding GUI, there IS a way to do that, and I've toyed with the notion for a few years. It would be an actual book (I've done enough postings to fill one), but I dunno who would buy it....
Vernon, Jun 08 2005

Fine. Get in an arms race if you rather.
