Attach money to valuable items so you will be extra careful with them.

Especially effective for intrinsically worthless items which nevertheless have sentimental value, like pets and your grandmother's diary (or cheese bra). This idea seems so simple, yet somehow it makes my brain hurt.

the source of pain is the inherent paradox: this idea is much like tying a string around an object so that you won't forget about your finger.

Yes, global, I think you're right. *wince* So is the idea a very deep paradox that only looks shallow, or is it a really shallow one-liner that only seems deep because I fell for it?

Well, if your grandmother has a cheese bra, then gullibility runs in your family. Can I interest you in an herbal supplement I know of...?

I must remember to be extra careful with this £50 note. Now, how can I do that?

I suspect the same thing would happen if you were wearing a cheese bra.
