Mobius strip [link] shaped golf tees would keep tee snapping to a minimum and give those of us that suck at golf something to fiddle with as the next foursome plays through.

       Mmmwhat?

       2fries - sorry, I change my mind. I reverse my vote. +

       Mmmwhy?

sorry, I don't play golf - are tees the bit of grass that you start your game on? I thought they were the plastic things that you balanced your balls on.

o.k. so it's for the first stroke practice thing? I'd be afraid the ball would return and clunk me on the head.

       +1 anyway - fantastic concept.

[po] Tees are what golfers put their balls on whilst driving

I don't understand why use mobius strips, apart from a pun. Actually a mobius strip-tease would be just that: whenever the dancer tried to peel the clothing off, it would magically turn over and remain in place.

neat drawing, not sure how this would work.

A Mobius Strip Mall, however, would be a great invention, as you'd have a tough time getting out.

On that linked mobius, the loop farthest to the right would have a depression for the ball to sit in while the loop farthest to the left would be folded flat to stick in the grass.

Ling I found a mobius strip tease pic fer ya.

Wow thats awsome. If you flattened out the part where the ball would go a little, and made the edges blunt on the edges around the ball but sharp on the down side then you could screw it in the ground.
Also: Trefoil knot golf tee -- make the knot small and close together at the top so you can rest the ball inbetween the thee edges. No, wait a minute thats sucky.

So the ball would sit on the surface to the right, facing away? And the material is what, ABS? Having to stick a fin in the ground (if I'm looking at it properly) might be more difficult than a normal t.

       All golf is evil.

I'd prefer Mobius strip teas. Tea that comes in a new shape teabag to add to all the other shapes of bag. Mobius strippyness of bag design means that tea leaves circulate endlessly through the bag without settling to give you a rich depth of flavour.

       [squeak] that's inspired.

I heard about a new venture in South Africa, Mobius Strip Mining, where you dig out the minerals from a mountainside, turn them upside down and put them back again.

Then there's the recent discovery of the Mobius Striptococcalai - a new and strange breed of germ that can cause a rather nasty rash.

I read this at first as a young lady (or gentleman, if that's your cup) that would never stop dancing and taking off clothing.

It would probably become annoying after a while, so I'm really glad this just has to do with the most torturous sport in the world.

Unrelated: Did you know that tortuous and torturous are different words? I didn't.
shapu, Aug 18 2005

[Shapu] You know what, I didn't, but I used the one you didn't this very morning, right here on the halfbakery - what a coincidence eh? (I think it's safe to say that while distinct, the meanings could be substituted for one another without loosing too much of the overall impact of any given sentence containing one or the other of them)

I remember when they brought out round tea bags. The tag line was 'let the flavour' circulate.

They eventually got taken off the market, and my faith in humanity was restored.

//Tees are what golfers put their balls on whilst driving// Sounds uncomfortable. Are you sure you're using the golf cart right?
