You've seen those doggie sweaters? Well how about a strapon metal detector that is set to the gold setting? It would not have an earpiece, but a speaker, so when it detects something it pings.

The idea being that you walk your dog through the field or park, or along the beach and if it accidentally walks over someone's lost necklace, or ring...Chaching! for you!

You walk your dog anyway, so why not have a slim chance at finding buried treasure?

You may as well incorporate it into this idea as well... Urban_20Remote_20Herding_20Array

Perhaps a good idea for walking the pot-bellied pig?

[+] though "strapon metal detector" caused some momentary confusion.

[21], you're the dog expert, but couldn't we add a terrain adjustable extension and some remote downloading to your favorite phone you so you could retrace and recheck the hot reads?

Now why didn't I think of this? (+)

Alligators would be ideal -- very low to the ground, broad, flat belly. Maybe you could get an alligator to swallow this device (easier if a small dog was wearing it at the time)? (Peter Pan joke left as an exercise to the reader.)

Not easy without a Hook to hang it on ...

You put the device into a pie, right?
