analog displays with standard deviation pointers

I really like the oldschool analog 'meters - some additional information would be nice though: How about a pointer that not only shows the mean of a measure, but also the standard deviation, by splitting its tip? Would be nice for, eg. measuring an alternating current at an offset, like many audio-signals are.

The main pointer would be driven by the normal moving coil with its low temporal resolution, while the side-pointer would be something with high temporal resolution, for instance a beam of light reflected by a galvanometer.
