Magnetic Weightlifting
Magnetic "exercise environment" enables weightlifting without using 10 different machines or adjusting weights constantly | |
Very quick idea, it's really late here, I gotta go to bed.
I like working out, but I hate constantly changing machines, adjusting, the seat heights, weights, and redoing it everytime someone else gets uses the machine. I propose a magnetized enclosed area and either a suit (which might be very
sweaty and nasty) or a few wristbands, anklebands, or other strategically placed magnets. The overall magnetic force could be adjusted to provide x pounds/kilograms of resistance. Of course you would have special equipment that would help isolate certain muscles, such as benches such, but the benefit of this magnetic weightlifting would be that you could adjust very quickly the amount of weight/resistance that is needed. Perhaps the armbands/wristbands,anklebands etc could actually control the magnetic force. This way would provide benefits because the overall magnetic force in the room would remain the same, but each individual could control their own personal amount of "resistance".
I know I could say a lot more, and perhaps I will later. It's not really a serious idea, just something to bounce around...

sorry about the typos! Very tired....must...sleep. |

The kinetics would be tricky, since magnetic force falls off quickly as a square of distance. Does it come with its own nuclear reactor station to power it? Perhaps this is what Iran is *really* up to. |

An interesting idea, with the added benefit of not requiring a spotter, but not an improvement over what's available in resistance training now. |
