Magnetic Countertop Tile

A set of ceramic tiles with magnets embedded into their periphery. When laid into a kitchen countertop, your metal utensils and whatnot will automatically “snap to grid”.

       Bun for somewhere to put hot pots and pans with a much lower chance of accidentally knocking them on the floor (use high temperature magnets). [+]   

       Of course cutlery/utensils are often 300 series stainless or aluminum, which won't stick, but I still like the idea.

       Wall version would be good..... counter top in my kitchen would end up wiping all my bank cards.

       Ditto on electromagnets, but I'm thinking that sooner or later (and most likely sooner), the utensils will become magnetized themselves, and start clumping in the dishwasher. Which may or may not be a desired outcome.
